UBI to focus on SMEs

United Bank of India (UBI) has identified the micro, small and medium enterprise MSME sector as one of the thrust areas, and will focus on lending to it, apart from agriculture.

As of December 2009, advances to the MSME sector by the bank were Rs 6,212 crore and registered a growth of 93.8 per cent over March 2009 position, Bhaskar Sen, CMD, United Bank of India informed after inauguration of two new branches in Jaipur. The bank would recruit 150 agricultural officers for its agriculture and SME sectors.
