GHV Accelerator is designed to help startups get faster to Series-A funding
Green House Ventures (GHV) Accelerator today announced a unique partnership with World Innovation Lab (WiL), one of Japan's largest VC funds that helps startups bridge the gap between their home markets and the US markets.
GHV Accelerator is designed to help startups get faster to Series-A funding. The partnership with WiL will help GHV provide not just growth capital, but also the resources and connections to help startups from India go global, particularly in the technology & innovation hotbed - Silicon Valley.
WiL invests in startups with global appeal and disruptive potential, typically investing $5M to $30M in early, as well as growth-stage startups through multiple rounds of investments. In addition to capital, WiL is known to provide operational expertise and strategic partnerships to accelerate their portfolio companies' global expansion.
Through the partnership with GHV Accelerator, WiL will foster and mentor the startups that pass out of the GHV Accelerator. Tech & Internet entrepreneur - Gen Isayama (Co-Founder & CEO, WiL) and Ex-Chief Incubation Officer of Yahoo- Masataka Matsumoto (Co-Founder & General Partner, WiL), will join the already illustrious mentor panel of GHV Accelerator.
"India is a large and exciting market that we had to be in, but we waited for the right partner. With GHV Accelerator there was a match of mission. Vikram shares with us the same passion and sense of urgency that we bring in scaling up startups and taking them global. Our approach is to shrink the time taken from concept to global markets, and GHV was an obvious choice," said Gen Isayama, CEO and Co-founder, WiL.
"We deliberately chose WiL as our first international partner. Our mission is to help startups get to Series-A funding faster. We needed a partner with the ability to fund multiple rounds of investments through different stages as well as the deep connections and infrastructure to take our startups to global markets. In a sense, we wanted an active partner and not just partnerships with logo-exchange and photo-op mindset," Said Vikram Upadhyaya, Entrepreneur Evangelist and Chief Mentor, GHV.
