Nike Inc plans to open a new campus in Bengaluru by FY28 to strengthen its operations in India, as per media reports. The new campus is part of the sportswear major’s global restructuring programme, Pace, which will reorganise the company into three geographic divisions and involve the elimination of corporate roles from calendar 2027.

Nike plans to move its full-time employees in India to the Bengaluru campus in phases. The company has yet to disclose the exact location and expects to announce the site in calendar 2027. The facility will house operational, design and supply support teams serving the Indian market as well as Nike’s global production network.

The restructuring will also see Nike combine Asia Pacific and Greater China into a single reporting segment, Asia Pacific and Greater China (APGC), with Singapore serving as the regional leadership hub. Employees currently handling these functions from Nike’s headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, are expected to transition to Singapore by FY28.

Under the revised structure, Nike’s business will be organised across three regions: the Americas, APGC and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The move brings Greater China and Asia Pacific under a common management structure after China had operated as a separate reporting segment for several years.

The Bengaluru campus is expected to give Nike greater control over product customisation, vendor coordination and local merchandising while supporting its broader supply and production network. The move comes as competition in India’s sportswear market intensifies, with brands such as Adidas and Puma expanding their retail and sourcing presence across major and emerging cities.

The India campus forms part of a broader operational overhaul aimed at modernising logistics and accelerating product creation. Nike’s leadership outlined the restructuring to employees in early October 2026, including corporate headcount reductions across legacy offices and the relocation of key functions to operational hubs in Asia.

The company has positioned the Bengaluru investment as a long-term capability build for India rather than a temporary shared-services operation.

“Bengaluru will play an increasingly important role in Nike’s future, and the new Nike campus reflects a long-term commitment to investing in the local marketplace and in capabilities that help us better serve athletes and consumers around the world,” said Venky Alagirisamy, Nike’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Details of Nike’s Bengaluru campus, including the site footprint and development partner, are expected to be announced in calendar 2027. The disclosure will come alongside formal employee consultation processes and individual notifications related to corporate role reductions across the company.

The Bengaluru campus, planned to be operational by FY28, is part of Nike’s Pace restructuring programme, which also brings Asia Pacific and Greater China under a single regional leadership structure based in Singapore. The changes are aimed at simplifying management and creating a more integrated approach to growth across Asian markets.

By establishing a dedicated corporate facility in Bengaluru, Nike is looking to strengthen its control over local merchandising, product customisation and vendor coordination. The move comes as competitors including Adidas and Puma continue to expand their retail and franchise presence across India.

However, the new structure also presents challenges. Combining Greater China with Asia Pacific could reduce management focus on mainland China, where domestic players such as Anta and Li-Ning remain strong competitors. At the same time, investment in a dedicated Bengaluru campus will add fixed costs as Nike seeks to move towards a more variable cost structure.

The announcement of the Bengaluru site in 2027 will provide greater clarity on the scale and scope of Nike’s planned India operations hub.
