KFC is moving away from Pepsi after roughly 40 years and will serve Coca-Cola products instead, according to media reports. The fried chicken chain’s U.S. restaurants will make the switch to Coca-Cola beverages across the system by spring 2027, the company said in an announcement on Thursday.
As per media reports, the deal is a big win for Coca-Cola, which has been trying to link its brand with a wide range of quick-service restaurant chains in its recent marketing campaigns. The change comes as KFC reworks its menu as part of a broader turnaround effort, KFC U.S. President Catherine Tan-Gillespie said. Parent company Yum Brands is also focusing more on growing beverage sales across its restaurant chains.
The split carries historical weight for KFC, which was once owned by PepsiCo. Tan-Gillespie described the partnership as another step in the company’s effort to evolve the brand, strengthen its restaurants and menu, and offer a more relevant experience to today’s customers. She added that Coca-Cola shares KFC’s vision for the brand’s future.
