Gigstart is a marketplace which facilitates quick and transparent connect between entertainers and party planners. It is first of its kind booking service where all the artists are verified and reviewed in order to ensure we offer you nothing less than the best.

In an interaction with EntrepreneurIndia.com, Atit Jain, Co-founder, Gigstart, talks more about his business roadmap and revenue model:

How did the idea of Gigstart come about?

The idea of Gigstart came to me when Madhulika and I were working on a lifestyle blog project and struggling to come up with a revenue model for the same. My journey has been very exciting. I have learnt a lot and it’s been an enriching experience so far.

From where did the inspiration come from?

I come from a family where most of the people run their own business. So doing something of my own was always on the cards.  I always wanted to do something which involves both online and offline component. I have had many inspirations in my journey so far.

What challenges have you faced during the initial days of setting up your own venture?

The biggest challenge was to find the right partner and bringing the right talent on board.

What have you learned from your failures?

Some of the failures have been concentrating on too many things at a given point of time and not doing anything properly. As a startup, we need to prioritise well. We are learning the art of differentiating between the critical and beneficial action items.

How did you find the right pool of talent?

People with inclination towards art got interested in working with us and we were able to set a good core team. We believe that sincerity scores our skill and persistence scores over passion. Currently, we have a team of 11 people.

Please mention about the geographical presence of your organisation?

Right now, we have artists from more than 75 cities, but the concentration of artists is highest in metros and a few tier 2 cities. We have done most of the gigs in and around Delhi.

How does your revenue model work?

We charge a facilitation fee from the artist whenever they are hired.  The company has generated a GMV (gross merchandise value) of more than Rs 60 lakh since inception. In the next fiscal, we would want to achieve GMV of Rs 5 crore.

What would be your business roadmap in the years to come?

The business roadmap is to increase the number of artists in 10 cities. We also plan to start a few initiatives like hosting artist nights with multiple venues in the cities of our presence. We will also spend on marketing ourselves.
