Popees Baby Care Products Limited, the Kerala-based company behind the Popees baby and kidswear brand, is looking to expand its presence across India, building on its established market position, manufacturing capabilities and growing business in the baby care segment.
The expansion push comes as the company reported nearly 20% growth in revenue from operations to ₹161.93 crore in FY26, compared with ₹135.30 crore in the previous financial year. Net profit increased by around 14% to ₹8.37 crore from ₹7.37 crore in FY25, providing a stronger financial base for its growth ambitions.
Its product portfolio spans newborn and children's clothing, diapers, wipes, toiletries, infant essentials, maternity wear, footwear and other baby care products.
The company operates three manufacturing facilities across Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, with a combined installed production capacity of approximately nine lakh sets per month. This manufacturing network, together with its established retail and distribution presence, provides a foundation for expanding its reach into new markets.
India's baby care and children's products segment presents opportunities for brands that can combine product variety, quality and distribution reach. Popees aims to leverage its established brand and diversified portfolio to strengthen its presence beyond its existing markets and reach more consumers nationwide.
The company's business profile has also received recognition from CRISIL Ratings, which assigned CRISIL BBB/Stable for its long-term bank facilities and CRISIL A3+ for its short-term facilities, covering total bank facilities of ₹50 crore. CRISIL cited factors including the promoters' nearly 25 years of experience in the baby and kidswear segment, the Popees brand's established market position, business growth and financial profile.
“Our ambition is to take Popees beyond its established markets in South India and build a stronger national presence across the baby care and kidswear segments. With a diversified product portfolio, manufacturing capabilities across three states and a brand built over more than two decades, we are well positioned to reach more families across India. The proposed integration with the listed entity is an important step in this journey, providing a platform to scale our operations, expand our reach and build long-term value for our customers and shareholders,” said Shaju Thomas, Managing Director, Popees Baby Care India Limited.
In a significant corporate development, Popees Baby Care India Limited, formerly known as Hari Govind International Limited, has approved the proposed acquisition of a 99.31% stake in Popees Baby Care Products Limited through a share-swap arrangement. Valued at approximately ₹511.33 crore, the proposed transaction is intended to bring the operating business under the listed entity, subject to applicable approvals and completion of the transaction.
