eLearning startup Sigrid Education aims to utilize this funding to strengthen its technology, add more courses’ digital content on its platform.
Noida-basedeLearning startup Sigrid Education has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Oliphans Capital. Sigrid enables teachers to bring their courseware, testing material and insights online, allowing them to reach out to students across the country, and allowing students to benefit from the ability of these teachers.
The company aims to utilize this funding to strengthen its technology, add more courses’ digital content on its platform and for marketing purpose. The company aims to create and introduce courses in the 50 most prominent test-prep and K12 curriculum areas over the next 6 months.
Launched in 2012 by Ajit Maheswari, Atul Kasaundhan and Aakash Aggarwal, the company claims to have 100,000 users on board. Courseware and teaching content is recorded using Sigrid’s proprietary platform Sigrid Notes, and it provides a one-on-one teaching experience to the students.
Sigrid Notes has been designed to be compatible with all operating systems and browsers, and is extremely low footprint – so it can be used on any device and on any bandwidth. Sigrid’s tests are adaptive in nature, thereby focusing testing attention on the areas the student needs more guidance in. The firm also provides comprehensive performance analyses and peer comparison.
It works with good teachers and education institutes to create content of different courses. Sigrid Notes bring fast scale-up and rapid content creation capabilities to online education.
The company competes with the likes of Edutor, Next Education, Edukart, Toppr, and Embibe among others in K-12 and test-prep segment. Earlier this week, Delhi- based education marketplace, Edukart raised $1 million from Holostik Group’s United Finsec, cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s YouWeCan Ventures and early stage fund 500 Startups.
“eLearning is in nascent stage in India but with deeper penetration of mobile devices and internet, I feel it will grow rapidly over the next few years. It’s a $25 bn opportunity and we look forward to grab a good chunk of it. We are equipped to create and publish digital courses, both content and tests, rapidly and make it available across all operating systems and devices,” said Atul Kasaundhan, Co-founder, Sigrid.
