West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) has been asked to identify land in every district for these clusters
West Bengal will have 17 new industrial clusters to set up small and medium enterprise (SME) industries. Each district will have one such cluster.
West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) has been asked to identify land in every district for these clusters.
State commerce and industries minister Partha Chatterjee on Tuesday said once the land is identified, basic amenities like availability of water, electricity and roads have to be created.
"We are looking at small- and medium-scale units, but if bigger ones are available, even manufacturing units could come up," Chatterjee said.
He iterated that land cannot be taken without the owner's consent and the buyer would have to make the seller agree to his proposal.
