Kochi based telecom incubator; Startup Village is planning to set up a center for Indian start-ups in Silicon Valley. The new center will help Indian start-ups to understand the startup and innovation ecosystem in the US and also to enter the US markets.
The novel initiative is also being backed up by setting up a venture fund appropriately named as Mallu Angel Fund that will support the idea to product-process of identified start-ups.
Startup Village has also announced a new scheme called ‘SV squared Startup Village to Silicon Valley.’ The scheme is a competition for student Startups wherein the best five ideas will be selected by a jury. The selected student entrepreneurs will be given an all expenses paid exposure tour to Silicon Valley in March this year and the opportunity to avail the new education policy.
The website for the contest SVSquared.com is launched with information about the programme which started on Friday. The students can upload videos of their innovative ideas on YouTube.
Kris Gopalakrishnan, Co-Chairman, Infosys and other entrepreneurs from the state had earlier joined hands to form an angel network to invest in Kerala based start-ups.
