Government release fund for National Skill Development Corporation to promote private training by setting up Skill Development centres.
Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship said that National Skill Development Corporation is a public private partnership entity set up as to promote private training providers to setup Skill Development centres across the country.
The Central Government’s equity stake in NSDC is 49% and the balance 51% equity share are held equally by ten participating association of industries. It acts as catalyst in skill development by providing funding to enterprises, companies and organizations for skill development by providing funding to appropriate models to enhance, support and coordinate private sector initiatives.
Rudy further informed that the government has been supporting the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in its skilling activities/programmes. NSDC has been implementing various skilling programmes of the Central Government including STAR (Standard, Training, Assessment and Reward) Scheme for skilling youth from across the country and UDAAN Scheme for youth from Jammu & Kashmir. Funds released to NSDC so far as are, Skilling- Rs. 1, 24,395 lakhs, UDAAN- Rs.11,405 lakhs and STAR- Rs. 1,00,000 lakhs. Total of Rs. 2,35,800 lakhs has been transfer from NSDF to NSDC.
