After Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), Ahmedabad has started a branch in Kazakhstan. The EDI will help the Indian government under South-South Cooperation to set up Kazakhstan-India Entrepreneurship Development Centre (KIEDC) at Almaty.
Small and medium enterprises form a major facilitator to the growth of the economy of any country. This sector has the highest capital-employment ratio. It can help in the growth and development of Kazakhstan.
The KIEDC will cater to the needs of both the start-up and the existing entrepreneurs. The centre will also organize courses for support system like banks, industry promotion agencies, planners and policy makers to create an enabling environment for establishment of SMEs. To ensure sustainability of the project, it will also organize trainers' training programmes and these trainers can later organize entrepreneurship development programmes for potential entrepreneurs.
