Customers can now combine food orders from multiple restaurants through a single checkout on Swiggy, which has introduced the feature across more than 720 cities.
Launched on October 15, the feature allows users to order from up to five restaurants, create multiple carts, compare them and pay for all orders together. Customers can also track their orders on a single screen, the company said.
Orders from different restaurants will continue to be prepared and delivered independently, with each displayed separately on the shared tracking screen.
The feature is aimed at households and groups ordering food for gatherings, where people may have different preferences for cuisines and dishes. It also allows customers to combine starters, main courses and desserts from different restaurants in one transaction.
Swiggy said the feature is designed to reduce the need for multiple checkouts and associated platform fees. However, the actual savings will depend on the applicable fees and charges for individual orders.
Sidharth Bhakoo, Chief Business Officer at Swiggy’s food marketplace, said the feature was developed to address differing food preferences among people ordering together.
