Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL) has started manufacturing its first electric scooter, Suzuki e-ACCESS, at its production facility in Gurugram, Haryana. This marks Suzuki’s official entry into the Indian electric two-wheeler market.
The e-ACCESS was first unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and is positioned as a smart mobility solution for urban commuting.
Built on Suzuki’s e-Technology platform, the e-ACCESS features a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery known for its long lifespan and thermal stability. Additional highlights include regenerative braking, a maintenance-free belt drive system, and the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector-e (SDMS-e), which offers three riding modes—Eco, Ride Mode A, and Ride Mode B—along with a reverse mode.
Suzuki has subjected the battery and components to rigorous testing including submersion, extreme temperatures, drops, vibrations, motor bench tests, puncture, and crush tests to ensure durability and reliability.
According to the company, the e-ACCESS delivers stable performance at all speed levels, even at low battery levels. It is designed to offer swift acceleration and responsive handling in both city traffic and open roads.
To support the rollout, SMIPL is preparing its existing dealership network for electric vehicle sales and service. Dealerships are being equipped with trained personnel and the necessary infrastructure to cater to electric two-wheeler customers.
Suzuki Motorcycle India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation, began operations in India in February 2006. It operates out of the Kherki Daula plant in Gurugram, with an annual production capacity of 1.3 million units. SMIPL currently manufactures 125cc scooters, premium motorcycles above 150cc, and high-displacement motorcycles.
India’s electric two-wheeler market has been witnessing significant activity as the government continues to promote e-mobility through various incentive schemes and infrastructure development initiatives.
