UAE-based LuLu Group has entered Chennai with its first hypermarket in the city, marking its foray into Tamil Nadu’s capital, as per media reports. Located within Shenoy Nagar Metro Station on Chennai Metro’s Green Line, the LuLu Hypermarket opened to the public on Monday, October 12. A smaller-format outlet, LuLu Daily, also commenced operations at Chennai Central Metro Station on the same day.
The two stores were inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar, along with Minister Venkat Ramanan. Spanning approximately 1 lakh sq. ft., the Shenoy Nagar hypermarket is claimed by the group to be India’s first and largest hypermarket within a metro station. The facility houses a supermarket and a department store featuring LuLu Fashion Store and LuLu Connect.
Founded by Kerala-born businessman MA Yusuff Ali, LuLu Group has a presence across more than 20 countries.
