Siddharth Nawal, Managing Director of Blackstone’s real estate business in India, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Nexus Select Trust, succeeding Dalip Sehgal, who has led the retail real estate platform since February 2018.
Sehgal is expected to transition into a co-CEO role and work alongside Nawal until the end of 2026, ensuring continuity during the leadership transition.
Under Sehgal’s leadership, Nexus Select Trust evolved into India’s first publicly listed retail real estate investment trust (REIT), building a portfolio of shopping centres with strong occupancy levels and cash flows. The platform currently operates 22 retail assets across 17 cities, alongside hotel and office properties.
Nexus Select Trust aims to expand its portfolio to 30–35 malls, covering 18–20 million sq ft, and achieve retail net operating income (NOI) of more than ₹3,000 crore by 2030.
As CEO, Nawal will be responsible for driving the next phase of growth through acquisitions, development partnerships and expansion of existing properties, while maintaining asset quality, retailer performance, customer experience and investor returns.
The leadership transition comes as Nexus Select Trust looks to scale its retail portfolio and strengthen its presence across key markets in India.
