Swiss chocolatier Lindt is planning to expand its retail footprint in India by opening nearly 20 exclusive stores over the next two-and-a-half years, with VTC Group set to establish 11 outlets across north and west India, according to media reports.
The initial expansion will focus on Delhi-NCR, followed by Chandigarh and Ahmedabad. The pace of rollout will depend on the availability of suitable retail locations and the performance of individual stores.
Lindt opened its first retail outlet in India in Delhi last month. Spread across approximately 1,100 sq ft, the store offers more than 500 stock-keeping units (SKUs). Its portfolio includes Lindor chocolate balls in 17–18 flavours, with the range expected to expand to 25 by December.
The retail expansion builds on VTC Group's five-year distribution partnership with Lindt across north and west India. The group’s distribution network currently reaches approximately one lakh stores.
VTC Group also distributes products for brands such as Procter & Gamble, Cello, Fazer and Royal Dance. Its distribution operations cover order-taking, deliveries, returns and damage-related issues across the supply chain.
The group plans to finance the retail rollout through its balance sheet and existing financial institutions. Further expansion will be guided by store-level performance and the availability of commercially viable locations.
