EKA Mobility has been awarded the Automotive Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Certificate for its electric bus platform by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the designated testing agency under the Ministry of Heavy Industries. This certification confirms that EKA’s electric bus platform meets the eligibility criteria set under the Government of India’s PLI scheme for advanced automotive technology vehicles.
The recognition underscores the company’s commitment to building indigenous electric vehicle platforms that support national sustainability goals. ARAI’s certification validates EKA’s adherence to the technical standards and localization mandates outlined under the scheme.
Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, said, “Securing the Automotive PLI Certificate for the EKA bus platform reflects India’s growing readiness to deliver globally benchmarked, locally engineered electric mobility solutions. This recognition reinforces the importance of a vertically integrated approach that combines product development, localized supply chains, and advanced technology to build commercially viable EVs. As India moves toward sustainable transportation, such recognitions enhance industry-government collaboration and highlight the potential of indigenous innovation.”
EKA’s certified platform is built on a modular architecture that can be adapted to various bus lengths and operational needs. Designed with a monocoque chassis and lightweight construction, the platform aims to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for fleet operators, making electric public transport more cost-effective.
EKA Mobility’s approach aligns with the “Make in India” initiative by emphasizing domestic manufacturing and technology development. The company is focused on increasing value addition within the local supply chain while integrating advanced features into its EV platform.
Backed by equity partnerships with Mitsui Co., Ltd. (Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands), EKA Mobility is committed to creating sustainable commercial vehicle solutions through modular designs and efficient manufacturing processes, aimed at accelerating mass adoption of electric mobility.
The PLI scheme introduced by the Indian government is designed to incentivize domestic manufacturing of advanced automotive technology products, playing a key role in transitioning the nation towards cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions.
