Oben Electric today announced the development of its second indigenous motorcycle platform, O100, targeting the 100cc equivalent electric motorcycle segment in India. The company plans to produce electric motorcycles on this platform priced under ₹1 lakh to make them affordable for the mass market.
Developed at Oben Electric’s R&D center in Bengaluru, the platform is specifically designed for daily commuters in India. According to the company, the 100cc segment constitutes nearly 30% of India’s two-wheeler market.
Madhumita Agrawal, Founder and CEO of Oben Electric, said, “Our new O100 platform is designed for India’s everyday riders and aims to make electric motorcycles a practical choice for every Indian.”
The O100 platform features a modular architecture that supports multiple variants with different battery options. The company also develops key components such as motors, vehicle control units (VCUs), chargers, and proprietary LFP battery technology in-house.
Oben Electric plans to launch motorcycles based on this platform in the second half of 2025. The company is also expanding its presence across Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities in India and aims to have over 100 showrooms by the end of 2025.
Currently, Oben Electric sells the Rorr and Rorr EZ models built on its first ARX platform. Founded in August 2020, Oben Electric specializes in designing and manufacturing electric motorcycles in India and holds over 25 patents for its technology.
India remains the largest motorcycle market globally, dominated by traditional internal combustion engine models. However, rising fuel prices and government incentives are rapidly increasing the popularity of electric two-wheelers in the country.
