Welspun World has strengthened India’s manufacturing landscape with the inauguration of a new terry towel manufacturing facility in Gujarat, making it the world’s largest towel production unit under a single roof. The facility, operated by Welspun Home Solutions Limited, was virtually inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel.
The new plant significantly enhances Gujarat’s position as a global manufacturing hub and aligns with the national vision of Viksit Bharat. It is expected to generate over 3,000 direct and more than 10,000 indirect employment opportunities, taking the total workforce at Welspun’s Anjar operations to approximately 30,000.
Notably, the project was completed in a record 12 months after the foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister in December last year. The swift execution highlights both Welspun’s project management capabilities and the efficiency of Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem.
With the commissioning of this facility, Welspun further consolidates its leadership in the global home textiles sector. The state-of-the-art plant is equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies and a diverse product portfolio, enabling the company to cater to large-scale domestic and international demand while enhancing productivity and quality standards.
Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel emphasised the importance of Indian enterprises in building a self-reliant nation. He noted Welspun Group’s presence in Gujarat since 2004 and its contribution to national initiatives such as Make in India, Make for the World and Local to Global, particularly through job creation and inclusive growth.
Ms. Dipali Goenka, Managing Director and CEO, Welspun Living, said the new facility reflects Welspun’s philosophy of resilience and purposeful scale. She added that strong systems, respect for people and value-led execution have enabled the group to convert challenges into long-term progress.
The expansion underscores Welspun Group’s long-term commitment to nation-building through advanced manufacturing, employment generation and sustainable growth. By strengthening India’s capabilities in home textile exports, the facility is expected to support both domestic consumption and global supply chains, reinforcing the country’s position as a competitive manufacturing destination.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior leaders from the Gujarat government, key officials and Welspun Group’s leadership team.
