Restaurant Brands Asia Ltd (RBA), the operator of the Burger King franchise in India, has appointed Arijit Datta as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective October 8, 2025, as per a recent regulatory filing. Datta succeeds Sumit Zaveri, who stepped down as Interim CFO on October 7, 2025, and will continue as Group CFO and Chief Business Officer, retaining his role as a Key Managerial Personnel (KMP).
Approved by RBA’s Board on October 7, Datta’s appointment as a full-time KMP marks a significant step in strengthening the company’s financial leadership as it expands its quick-service restaurant (QSR) network across India.
With over two decades of experience in finance, commercial strategy, governance, compliance, taxation, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A), Datta brings extensive financial expertise to the organization. Before joining RBA, he served as CFO at Pepe Jeans India Ltd, and has previously held senior roles at Agro Tech Foods Ltd and Eveready Industries India Ltd.
A Chartered Accountant, Datta also holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in commerce, equipping him with strong credentials in corporate finance and strategic planning. His leadership is expected to help RBA enhance operational efficiency, strengthen profitability, and accelerate sustainable growth across its restaurant portfolio.
RBA’s leadership transition underscores its commitment to building a robust management foundation as India’s QSR landscape continues to evolve rapidly. With Datta at the financial helm, the company is well-positioned to enter its next phase of strategic expansion and value creation.
