PE investment in the SME sector decreases

Private equity investment in the SME sector dipped by 68 per cent, said ASSOCHAM. The investments went down from USD 1,812 million in 2008 to USD 580 million in 2009. ASSOCHAM cites the economic slowdown as the reason for the same.

Overall, PE deals in India during 2009 numbered 287 amounting to USD 4.43 billion against 502 in 2008 worth USD 11.9 billion.
