Bangalore-based technology start-up Hacker Earth has made it to the finals of the Seedstars World start-up competition that will be held during 1st to 7th February in Geneva, Switzerland.
Seedstars World is an international start-up competition focused on giving small businesses from fast-growing markets the opportunity to present and ultimately compete globally. An equity investment of up to $500,000 (over Rs 3 crore) and the title of ‘Best Start-up in the World’ are up for grabs.
Accelerators, including the Singapore-based business strategy consultancy Galixo, will mentor the finalists. The top 5 finalists will compete for the grand prize.
Founded in October 2012, Hacker Earth is an initiative of alumni from IIT Roorkee, Sachin Gupta and Vivek Prakash. This start-up provides a recruiting solution that combines an applicant tracking system with a skill assessment engine to help companies prevent wrong hires and reduce time wasted in interviews. It was also selected by GSF Accelerator in its inaugural batch of five start-ups in 2012.
Hacker Earth has over 40 tech product companies including Symantec, InMobi, Citrix and startups like FreshDesk and Practo as clients. The company also has a thriving community of hackers, many of who use the product on a daily basis to stay competitive in the job market.
Up to 100 startups applied per country, through an invitation-only registration process, and only up to 20 per event were selected by Seedstars World with the support of their partners and international experts, to pitch their ideas.
