Corporation Bank awarded 21 awards to outstanding micro, small and medium enterprises under different categories in New Delhi. The awards were christened as the National mSME Excellence Awards 2008.
The awards were given by Pranab Mukherjee, union finance minister in the presence of esteemed guest like Namo Narain Meena, union minister of state for finance who was the guest of honour, and M.A.Srinivasan, RBI nominee director among many others.
There were awards for ten categories namely food & agro-based, textiles & apparels, machine tools & engineering, chemicals & petrochemicals, IT & ITeS sector, auto components, drugs & pharmaceuticals, plastics & packaging, gems & jewellery and others.
The award, in its second year, is first of its kind, initiated by any public sector bank. The objective of the awards is to encourage and recognise some of the outstanding MSME-entrepreneurs in the country.
