NOW, HEALTHCARE THROUGH THE ‘EHEALTH’ NETWORK

India has been ranked 31 of the 32 countries assessed by consultant KPMG International in its global ‘Through the Looking Glass’ report, which was based on the global transparency index on healthcare systems

NOW, HEALTHCARE THROUGH THE ‘EHEALTH’ NETWORK

Traditionally, the healthcare system in India has been fragmented with multiple healthcare providers, payers, diagnostic centers, clinics and pharmacies. Unfortunately, there is no common platform to bring them all together to benefit patients who should always be the ultimate beneficiaries. Due to the lack of transparency in healthcare, more than 62% of Indians spend “out of pocket” for medical expenses and do not have health insurance. Over 70% of surgical interventions can be prevented if the right diagnosis is provided.

The company is completely aligned to the government’s objectives to link Aadhaar with healthcare systems. It also uses technology and infrastructure to help hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and diagnostic centers work in alignment to benefit the patient. “We have been receiving tremendous response and are working hard towards the launch of our EHR platform,” Kondati informs.

What’s On Offer?

The company has two aspects of e-health including eHealth ID and eHealth Pro. eHealth ID focuses on benefiting the patient through an eHealth ID card that uses the person’s Aadhaar information for authentication. eHealth will also have a complete patient portal on the web as well as a mobile app to maintain patient health records, medical history, insurance, family history, Aarogyasri eligibility/card, finding e-health hospitals, diagnostics and pharmacies as well as a rewards system that will help them to redeem the points they accrue over time for health insurance.

Physicians will be able to add their reports, prescriptions and any other details to the portal which can be viewed and accessed by the patient as well as the next physician whom the patient is referred to. eHealth ID is free to use by the citizens of India. eHealth Pro focuses on bringing the entire healthcare system into a single bucket by providing EHR solutions. In addition, eHealth has a franchise model through which any individual with the required basic infrastructure (building, space, furniture, etc.) can sign up to become an eHealth hospital, eHealth clinic, eHealth diagnostic center or eHealth pharmacy.

“Over 70% of surgical interventions in India can be solved through proper diagnosis and treatment methods. Another challenge is lack of transparency in the healthcare system. Most of the rural population has access to very basic or no healthcare facilities and lack qualified physicians to treat them,” Kondati says. eHealth’s focus is a ‘Citizen First’ approach where a complete healthcare ecosystem will be created that seamlessly works in tandem to ensure that all patients are treated equally. The rural population will majorly benefit from eHealth due to eHealth clinics, pharmacies and diagnostic centers that will be fully capable of providing the required diagnosis and treatment and further refer the patient, if required, to other larger hospitals under the eHealth network.

Franchising Path

“We strongly believe that partnerships and franchising is a great way to expand the brand, position our values and maintain service quality. Anyone interested in becoming a franchise for eHealth needs to have the passion for providing excellent healthcare services. Understanding of healthcare and services is a must and the franchisee must have a sound financial background along with the required basic infrastructure such as floor space or building in hygienic conditions, furniture and housekeeping services,” Kondati says. eHealth will then provide the required training, support, equipment, medical infrastructure, trained physicians and pharmacy graduates to be able to efficiently carry out the operations.

Way Forward

The company is currently positioning itself in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and plans to expand across India. “Our aim is to have over 1,00,000 eHealth centers across India by 2021. We aim to expand using our partner networks, marketing channels as well as our franchises,” he concludes.
