Satyen Momaya, the driving force behind French menswear brand Celio’s India operations, has stepped down from his role as Chief Executive Officer, concluding an impactful eight-year tenure that saw the brand through major transformation and growth.
Momaya joined Celio India in 2017 with a clear mandate: to revamp the business, elevate the brand, and establish India as the fastest-growing subsidiary within Celio International’s global portfolio. In a farewell note shared on LinkedIn on Monday, he described his time at the company as “immensely rewarding,” highlighting the lessons, challenges, and milestones achieved along the way.
During his leadership, Momaya spearheaded a strategic overhaul of Celio India’s business model, steering it towards sustainable profitability and greater brand visibility in a rapidly evolving retail landscape. His tenure included navigating through the COVID-19 pandemic, a critical period that tested the resilience of retail operations nationwide.
Reflecting on his journey, Momaya credited his success to a high-performance team culture, encapsulated in the mantra “Execute without Excuse,” and a deep commitment to delivering results in a competitive marketplace.
He also expressed heartfelt gratitude for the farewell hosted by the Celio India team, calling it a symbol of the "respect, connection, and genuine care" they had fostered together. “I leave with lasting relationships and experiences that will continue to inspire me,” he added, hinting at new ventures ahead, though he has yet to reveal details of his next move.
Before joining Celio, Momaya held leadership roles at Levi Strauss, where he served for nine years, including as Director – Retail.
