The launch is seen as a step towards strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s standing as an industrial investment destination and expanding its textile and apparel manufacturing base.
The facility is largely women-led, reflecting a focus on increasing women’s participation in the workforce. It is expected to boost industrial growth in the region and create new opportunities in garment manufacturing.
Since Arvind Limited serves customers worldwide, the new unit will help garments made in Varanasi reach international markets. The facility is also expected to strengthen India’s textile and apparel ecosystem and bring the region closer to global supply chains.
The inauguration coincides with the Prime Minister’s visit to his parliamentary constituency, where he is also scheduled to attend ‘Wings Over Ganges’, an aerial display by the Indian Air Force (IAF) marking 94 years of the force.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed the Prime Minister to Varanasi on Sunday, saying the event would showcase the bravery and strength of the Indian Air Force. He described Varanasi as a symbol of a strong, self-reliant and resurgent India.
In a post on X, Singh said Kashi was set to witness the valour and might of the IAF at ‘Wings Over Ganges’ as it celebrates 94 years, and extended a warm welcome to the Prime Minister. “Varanasi showcases the spirit of a strong, self-reliant and resurgent New India,” he wrote.
