Lemon Tree Hotels Limited has strengthened its presence in Northeast India with the signing of a new hotel in Jorhat, Assam, taking its portfolio in the state to seven properties. The upcoming Lemon Tree Hotel, Jorhat will be managed by Carnation Hotels Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lemon Tree Hotels Limited.

The signing marks the hospitality group's debut in Jorhat, often regarded as Assam's cultural capital. With this addition, Lemon Tree Hotels' Assam portfolio now comprises one operational hotel and six properties under development, reflecting the company's continued expansion across the region.

Renowned as the 'Tea Capital of the World', Jorhat is home to over 135 tea estates, including the historic Cinnamora and Gatoonga tea gardens, as well as the Tocklai Tea Research Institute. The city also serves as the gateway to Majuli, the world's largest river island and an important centre of Vaishnavite culture. Its thriving tea industry, rich cultural heritage and growing tourism appeal have positioned Jorhat as one of Northeast India's emerging travel destinations.

The proposed hotel will offer 70 well-appointed rooms along with a restaurant, banquet hall, meeting room, swimming pool, spa and fitness centre. Designed as a full-service property, it aims to cater to business travellers, tea industry professionals, leisure guests and tourists exploring the cultural and natural attractions of the region.

Commenting on the signing, Vishvapreet Singh Cheema, President, Lemon Tree Hotels Ltd., said, “We are delighted to bring the Lemon Tree brand to Jorhat, a city that beautifully combines Assam’s rich cultural heritage with its economic significance. Our expansion strategy is focused on strengthening our presence across high-growth regional markets where demand for quality branded hospitality is increasing. This signing reinforces our commitment to Northeast India while enabling us to serve a growing mix of business and leisure travellers with the signature comfort and warm hospitality that Lemon Tree Hotels is known for.”
