Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality (ABNAH), the hospitality arm of the Aditya Birla Group, has expanded its dining portfolio with the launch of Supa San at Mansionz One on Linking Road in Bandra West, Mumbai. Located on the 14th floor, the 110-seater restaurant draws inspiration from Japanese izakayas and music culture.
Designed by Patch Design Studio, the restaurant takes cues from listening bars, vinyl cafés and record stores. Its interiors feature a vinyl collection, musical instruments, curated memorabilia and a private karaoke room. An open-to-sky alfresco section with a retractable roof adds to the space.
Supa San follows the brand’s “Masters of One” philosophy, with each location exploring a distinct aspect of Japanese culture. While its BKC outlet takes inspiration from manga and anime, the Bandra West restaurant focuses on music through curated playlists, DJ sets, live performances and karaoke.
The restaurant also houses The Sound Archive, a collaboration between Roland and Supa San featuring synthesizers, drum machines, grooveboxes and guitar pedals. Meanwhile, The Culture Shelf showcases music memorabilia, artwork, collectibles and branded merchandise.
“At ABNAH, we see hospitality as increasingly moving beyond food and service towards creating a deeper cultural connection. With Supa San Bandra, we have taken the Japanese izakaya as a starting point and explored it through one of Japan’s most influential cultural forces - music. The concept comes from a genuine appreciation of Japan - its literature, manga, music, design and food - but the intention is not to replicate Japan. It is to interpret these cultural codes through a contemporary lens that feels relevant to Mumbai. Every element, from the culinary programme developed by chefs trained in Japanese cuisine to the music, design and programming, is designed to give guests a more considered understanding of the culture and the stories behind it. For us, Supa San is therefore not simply about serving Japanese food. It is about creating a place where food becomes an entry point into a broader cultural experience - one that can resonate with people who know and love Japan, as well as those discovering it for the first time. Bandra, with its openness to culture, creativity and new forms of socialising, felt like the natural setting for this interpretation of contemporary Japan,” said Udai Pinnali, CEO, Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality.
ABNAH’s portfolio spans international and homegrown hospitality brands, including Hakkasan, Yauatcha, Nara Thai, CinCin, Supa San and Ode, with a presence across four Indian cities.
