Indian activewear brand TechnoSport has announced an ambitious retail expansion strategy, committing an investment of ₹200 crore to launch 300 exclusive brand outlets (EBOs) across the country over the next two years. The move marks a significant shift from the company’s earlier reliance on general trade, as it focuses on deepening brand visibility and direct-to-consumer engagement.
The announcement comes as TechnoSport opened its 21st exclusive store in Kolkata, marking its second outlet in West Bengal. The company, which has experienced a 40% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) since 2022, attributes this momentum to strong performance across modern retail, e-commerce, and physical brand stores.
“We have opened our 21st exclusive brand outlet in Kolkata, and we plan to scale up to 300 stores nationwide over the next two years with a capex of ₹200 crore,” said Pushpan Maity, CEO of TechnoSport.
Maity added that eastern India will account for approximately 30% of the new stores, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to the region, which has roots in the company’s promoter group.
Investment in Manufacturing to Support Expansion
To support the expanded retail footprint, TechnoSport is also investing ₹100 crore in a new manufacturing facility in Odisha, which will complement its existing yarn-to-fabric plant in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. The vertically integrated manufacturing setup is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency and enable greater control over quality and innovation.
Growth Targets and Product Innovation
India’s active and sportswear market is currently valued at around ₹4,500 crore, according to Maity, who believes the market holds significant potential for brands offering internationally benchmarked products at accessible price points.
For FY 2026, TechnoSport is targeting revenues of ₹600 crore, with an aim to reach ₹1,000 crore by FY 2027, driven by store expansion and continued focus on product development.
While the brand plans to launch a winter wear collection in the current fiscal year, its primary focus will remain on activewear. TechnoSport’s offerings span men’s, women’s, kids’, and unisex categories, underpinned by in-house fabric innovation.
With its aggressive expansion strategy, robust manufacturing capabilities, and commitment to innovation, TechnoSport is positioning itself as a key player in India’s fast-growing activewear market.
