Omaxe Unveils ₹500-Crore Integrated Retail and Housing Project in Ludhiana
The project, branded as Omaxe Chowk, will come up in the prominent Ghumar Mandi area and span around 5.25 acres.

Real estate developer Omaxe Ltd. has announced plans to invest ₹500 crore in a large mixed-use development in Ludhiana, marking a major addition to the city’s organised retail and residential landscape. The project, branded as Omaxe Chowk, will come up in the prominent Ghumar Mandi area and span around 5.25 acres.

The land for the project has been acquired on a leasehold basis through a competitive auction conducted by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA). Located in one of Ludhiana’s busiest commercial zones, known for wedding-related shopping and traditional markets, the development aims to offer a modern, structured alternative while complementing the city’s long-standing retail culture.

Planned as a contemporary high-street destination, Omaxe Chowk will bring together organised retail, destination dining, entertainment and premium residences within a single integrated campus. The retail mix will include wedding and jewellery showrooms, fashion brands, food and beverage outlets and an entertainment zone. A flagship experiential food hub, Dawatpur, is also part of the master plan, with brand details to be revealed at a later stage.

Commenting on the project, Jatin Goel, Executive Director, Omaxe Ltd., said Ludhiana continues to be a key market for the company due to its strong entrepreneurial base and commercial activity. He noted that Omaxe Chowk is being designed to combine modern infrastructure with familiarity, offering convenience, comfort and a sense of luxury across shopping, dining and living experiences.

A key element of the project is walk-to-shop convenience, with seamless integration between residential, retail and commercial spaces. According to the company, the development is aligned with evolving consumer preferences for destinations that offer accessibility, integrated living and a welcoming environment.

The project will feature two-side frontage with entry points from Rani Jhansi Road and College Road, enhancing visibility and traffic flow. Infrastructure plans include wide access roads, streamlined entry and exit systems, internal circulation roads, pedestrian-friendly walkways and parking capacity for over 1,000 vehicles. Architecturally, the development will blend heritage-inspired design elements with contemporary aesthetics.

Omaxe Chowk is expected to generate significant employment during the construction phase and create long-term jobs across retail operations, food and beverage, security and facility management. The project is being developed under a public-private partnership between RLDA and Ludhiana Wholesale Market Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Omaxe Ltd., and is slated for completion by June 2030 in accordance with RERA guidelines.

Omaxe currently has a presence in 31 cities across eight states, with developments spanning residential, commercial, integrated townships and public-private partnership projects. The company reported a consolidated total income of ₹1,637 crore in FY 2024–25.
