It was back in 1926 that Late Jadav Prasad Chaliha,freedom-fighter and a pioneer tea-grower of Assam, attempted the overwhelming errand of freeing a thickly forested award from land privately known as "Korangani", because of the wealth of the "Koranga" tree and topping off the plot with tea plants. Fighting the difficulties of a serious climate and pioneer disturbances, his assurance proved to be fruitful and the youthful manor started to flourish. Between 1953 and 1970, the reins of organization of the ranches, which by then incorporated the neighbouring Azizbagh Tea Domain, fell on the hands of his better half, late Debabala Chaliha, whose courageous work and dedication set up Korangani Tea Bequest as a maker of top-notch teas at the Tea – Closeout Center at Calcutta.
