Hewlett-Packard India on Tuesday introduced a new multi-function printer with wireless Internet hotspot called HP Hotspot LaserJet Pro M1218nfs MFP. In addition to print, copy, scan and fax capabilities, the printer offers the latest mobile printing technologies, including HP wireless direct, HP ePrint and Apple's AirPrint.
Speaking at the launch, Nitin Hiranandani, Director-Printing, PPS, HP India, said, "The HP Hotspot is a new all-in-one+1 printer, which completely redefines the role a multifunction printer, can play in a SOHO or small business environment. We are confident that users will deeply appreciate the ability to print, scan, copy, fax and access Internet wirelessly, all through a single device that is incredibly easy to set up and use."
The inbuilt wireless hotspot in the printer allows seamless, full Internet connectivity for up to eight users. In other words, it can replace the Wi-Fi router, as long as the total number of devices (computers/ smartphones/ tablets) that need to be connected does not exceed eight.
“From an SMB perspective, it is like a solution in a box. It is about simplicity to use a device at an affordable price of Rs 18,306,” Hiranandani told SMEntrepreneur.
“Apart from traditional print, scan, copy and fax functionalities, if a user connects wireless disk drive to the printer, then all users who are connected to this device will be able to access, retrieve and save files back,” said Hiranandani.
The printer carries a speed of printing up to 18 pages per minute, with the first page out in 8.5 seconds.
Apart from India, HP has launched the printer in China simultaneously.
