Since I was a house wife and didn’t know anything about running a business, a reputed brand like Baskin Robbins franchise was always a safe bet. It assured me of business assistance and establishment with more probability of success as it has assured customer base. Also it feels great to be associated with an international brand.

 What lessons and experiences can you share as a female entrepreneur?

I am still in the process to learn and excel as an entrepreneur. It is almost three years since I am  running my small business. One lesson I have learnt in this difficult pandemic period is that, we all can sustain provided, we learn to stand with patience during difficult times with determination and hope with required support from family and friends.

 How has been your association with the brand Baskin Robbins?

 Baskin Robbins’ regional management and the ground staff has always been very supportive and helped me in all aspects, whether it was related to start, understand and run the business. Since I wanted to expand and willing to increase my association with the brand time to time, I have been informed with the new opportunities.

When and what inspired you to take the franchise of Baskin Robbins?

Like many other entrepreneurs, I was always fond of Baskin Robbins ice-cream and always dreamt of owning an outlet. In the year 2019, when a family friend offered the opportunity to start the BR franchise in his food plaza it was like a dream come true.

How many outlets do you currently have?  

I currently own two outlets in Kolkata.

 What is the secret behind running successful outlets?  How did you make this happen?

As per my little knowledge of the business so far, the secret of successful business is my psychology educational background where I understood the human psychology of the business.

  • Managing and motivating the staff with the business ethics with customer focus.
  • Identify and retain honest and deserving staff with appropriate remuneration.
  • Constant contact and coordination with BR management and staffs for required support and supply.
  • Close monitoring of the stock and expenses.

 What are your future plans?  Are you planning to add more stores to your kitty of the same brand or any other?

At present I am not dreaming very big but rather thinking to sustain and learn the business more and planning to open one more outlet of Baskin Robbins.

 

A word of advice for young entrepreneurs!

As I have mentioned, I am still learning and always seeking support and information however understood following points are very important for budding entrepreneurs:

  • Seek guidance from the company and knowledgeable entrepreneurs.
  • Select good staff and motivate and work with them.
  • Learn from every opportunity of mistakes and try not to repeat it.
  • Keep constant touch with the franchisee support staff.
  • To set a goal and prepare a plan.
  • Keep a good book keeping record of income and expenses.
