A HAIR-RAISING STORY

With high stress levels and erratic lifestyle, hair fall is not the symptom of the aged but the millennial generation too. While younger men and women continue to lose hair, it’s the men who are more open to adopt hair loss solutions.

A HAIR-RAISING STORY

There’s a budget for caterers, decorators and even DJs on the list for wedding expenditure. But can there be a budget for the groom’s hair transplants? “It may sound strange, but that’s what the parents of millennials are doing. About Rs 1-2lakhs is the budget parents of balding grooms have as part of the wedding expenditure,” says Dr. Bindya Nigam, Director, Anagen Hair Transplant Clinic.

After launching 25 centres across India, Anagen is now looking at expansion in domestic and even international markets.

GROWING DEMAND

For those who may think that hair transplants could get replaced by non-surgical services like hair replacements, Dr. Vivek Nigam, Surgeon and Research Scholar, Anagen Hair Transplant Clinic says the demand for hair transplants will continue to stay as people are looking for long-term solutions, and it’s mostly men who are opting for hair transplant services. “Well, for men, hair transplant is what slimming is for women. Often, hair transplant boosts self-confidence in men. Hence, they are more open to transplants ,” he says. He further maintains, “While the average cost of hair transplants in foreign countries could range from Rs 2-5 lakhs, it’s significantly cheaper in India, ranging between Rs 50,000- Rs 2 lakhs.”

“This is one of the major reasons attracting foreigners to opt for hair transplants in India,” he adds. Dr. Nigam plans to run the brand like corporate clinics with packages which will offer stay, spa services and tourist attractions when one opts for hair transplant services with Anagen.

FRANCHISING FOR FASTER GROWTH

Run by award-winning doctor, Dr. Arvind Poswal, Dr A’s Clinic in New Delhi is looking for aggressive expansion across the country. “Around 10 patients visit us every day for hair transplant and we perform transplants on 4-5 people each day. There is stiff competition in the market but established players are ensuring that the segment continues to thrive,” he says. Dr A’s Clinic is looking to expand pan-India and plans to open 50 franchise centres by 2020.
