Having tasted international success, Doners and Gyros is all set to make a mark in India. In this interview, Nusra finds out more about the brand and its expansion plans.
How did it all begin? What made you enter into the food business?
How do you differentiate between shawarma and doner as the product are more or less the same?
Doner and shawarma are completely different products. The meat recipe of doner is different as compared to shawarma. From the taste to their textures, everything is different between them. Even the quality of meat or sauce is unlike each other. Doner is more Mediterranean European cuisine as compared to shawarma which is Middle Eastern.
What drove the idea of entering the Indian market?
We are very excited about the Indian market because we have studied the potential that lies here. Today’s generation likes to experiment with new ideas and products. And we believe that we are introducing the doner in India at the right time. With a good team and partners in place, we will be opening our outlets in the next 4-5 months.
What will be the number of outlets and cities you are thinking of covering?
We are looking forward towards opening 150-200 locations within India in the next five years. The group has partnered with FranGlobal as a master franchise partner which will be bringing in the bandwidth and the infrastructure. The group is planning to expand via development agents across 15-18 clusters in India who would be working in those regions to provide every cluster with 15-20 outlets.
Where can we see your first outlet getting launched?
We are planning to open the first outlet in the next 4-5 months ideally in a mall. We will be launching our brand all over India. We ideally want our establishment in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. But Delhi and Mumbai will be our first preference.
