A KICK TO SUCCEED

Grasshopper Soccer is a community-based Australian soccer organization that aims to teach children aged 2-12 the basics of playing soccer in a fun, social and non-competitive environment. After succeeding in the international markets, it is planning big for India, says, Blake Brinklow, CEO, Grasshopper Soccer.

A KICK TO SUCCEED

What’s Grasshopper Soccer all about?

What’s the point of difference with Grasshopper Soccer?
At Grasshopper Soccer, our focus is having all children participating and being involved rather than the focus be on winning and losing. Every single child has a ball at their feet at all times and all ‘have a go’ in a really fun, safe and controlled environment. The programmes are a lot of fun and designed for any skill level, which helps build their confidence, make friends, teaches them about sportsmanship and promotes a healthy lifestyle to see them through to adulthood.

What are your goals/targets for the next one year?

Over the next one year, we are looking to select four master franchises in India. Grasshopper Soccer will expand organically to a further 15 franchises over the next 2 years, where the franchisees will be running successful businesses and Grasshopper Soccer programmes and franchise systems are aligned to the Indian market.

What are your criteria for ideal franchise partner?

The ideal Grasshopper Soccer franchise operator is someone who has an outgoing personality, likes to have fun and really gets a kick out of seeing children develop and be active. They do not need to have run their own business previously or even be familiar with Soccer from a technical viewpoint. As a Grasshopper Soccer franchise operator, you will be fully-trained and have a proven business model to be able to run your own successful business.

What is the piece of advice you would give to a first-time franchisee?

As a first time franchisee, I would suggest to do a thorough research and make sure that this is something that gets you excited and something that you feel passionate about.

I would strongly advise to follow the franchise system as closely as possible and recommend networking with other franchisees within the network as they have been where you have before and will be able to help, encourage and inspire you.
