Shinag Allied Enterprises to revolutionize the sector by launching home appliance hypermarket stores. Sanjay Gandhi, Founder, Shinag Allied Enterprises, shares the exponential prospects in the business

From being a manufacturer to a retailer, discuss your journey in brief.

In 1991, we set up a manufacturing plant in Bangalore for sufficing the needs of kitchen ware appliances sector and used to manufacture under Surya Accent label. With rising demand, a decade later, we witnessed a boom in the sector due to changing lifestyles, especially in smaller towns. We jumped into the retail pool of kitchen appliances and launched multi-brand kitchen appliances’ 5000 sq. ft huge store in Arohalli on Kanakpura road, Bangalore. And now we are launching a large format multi-brand retail stores across Bangalore, especially in the smaller towns and outskirts.

Apart from this, what other products you sell at your outlet?

Surya Accent’s range of home appliances is a delight for every value-conscious homemaker. The Indian-specific home appliances range of our brand includes cookware, pressure cooker, tawa, pots, pans, non-stick cookware, burners & much more. We promise a complete peace of mind, by managing your home in the easiest, simplest and smartest way possible.

What are the growth prospects in this industry?

The appliance industry is constantly evolving. Every brand releases new products on a rolling basis. The kitchen appliances market in India is projected to grow at a CAGR of more than 25 per cent between 2014 and 2019. India has a large base of young consumers, who form majority of the workforce and hardly find time for traditional cooking due to their busy schedules, thereby creating a huge demand for western kitchen appliances that facilitate easy and quick cooking.

Why did you choose the franchise business model?

As a brand, we want to launch 10,000-15,000 sq.ft multi-brand hyper stores of home appliances, especially in Bangalore outskirts and smaller towns due to cheaper land cost and rentals so that our franchise partner can have high RoI & the demand too in smaller town is better than cities.

What all support will you offer your partners?

We will offer our partners thorough support and training in terms of store layout, operations, staff, marketing and product sourcing.

What are your expansion plans?

In the first phase, we want to launch in the outskirts of Bangalore, also we want to open 15 franchise stores this year and later our vision is to open 100 stores in next five years.
