Shreevats Jaipuria, Vice Chairman, Seth M.R. Jaipuria Schools, discusses how the school was started and his future plans
Being one of the pioneers in education industry, what helped the growth of your brand Jaipuria?
Jaipuria has been in the field of education since 1945. It has established schools and higher education institutions of national repute. Today, we have over 12,000 students studying at our 12 K-12 schools and four management institutes pan-India, and there would be around 1,500 academic staff working with us.
We wanted to do something unique to build capacities of teachers, to redefine academics as a whole, to make sure that every child has access to high quality education, irrespective they’re in a tier I, II or III city.
What kind of growth do you see for your brand in the next five years?
‘Jaipuria’ has been a name synonymous with quality education in India. We are very happy to collaborate with edupreneurs across the country who are helping with the humble beginnings we have made in this direction of expansion of our schools, and hope for everyone’s continued support and good wishes for this endeavor. There are 12 schools with around 10,000 students, 2000 teachers + staff associated with us presently. In the next five years, we see this number increasing exponentially-wit hopefully 50 operational schools, 100,000 students and 20,000+ teachers and staff with us.
Any preference for young entrepreneurs?
We look for the following in a person before collaboration
We are very happy to collaborate with young entrepreneurs! They always bring a fresh flavor to the school operations.
What criteria do you follow to select the licensee & what kind of training and support do you provide to the licensee?
We have a fairly detailed orientation and training & development process for all our stakeholders- be it our investors or the staff. The school Principal undergoes a two day orientation at the Corporate Office, and the teachers are trained on-site to be well versed with our curriculum and processes. We would be providing training to the teacher and administrative staff of the school on a quarterly basis. We would take the teachers of the partner school through a journey to map the curricular vision of Jaipuria Schools with the understanding of how students learn and its implications in classroom teaching-learning. Our trainers would brief teachers on the needs & expectation in the classroom by teachers, and other such areas. To keep standards high, our teachers are provided over 150,000 sheets of lessons plans available via linked ERP system
