Cuppa full of hot dividends

From an ardent coffee lover to a prolific coffee entrepreneur, Vikram Nagpal, Managing Partner, Vision Hospitality Solutions, Brand Cluster Doveloper-Punjab, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has come a long way.

In a tête-à-tête with Yamini S Verma, he shares his successful journey so far and the expansion plans ahead.

Discuss in brief your entrepreneurial journey? What inspired you to take the franchise of CBTL?

I have been a coffee fanatic since a long time and that's what inspired me to be a part of this international cafe brand. Moreover, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is a product oriented brand and makes sure it delivers the best teas and coffees sourced from various parts of the world. The brand is now fully entrenched in the Indian F&B market and is expanding its footprints further, and so are we.

What kind of potential do you see in the cafe industry? How has been the growth so far?

It is the most preferred way of entering the Indian F&B market for any aspiring entrepreneur as it promises high returns with low investments. The growth chart has been surging as there is demand for affordable high quality international culinary experiences amongst the youth of the country.

What is the most important element to be a successful franchisee?

The most important element is to be persistent in all aspects, understand your customer's requirements and deliver the best accordingly.

Discuss the challenges you have faced so far and how did you overcome them.

There are no such challenges we are facing at the moment as our master franchisee has the required equipments and logistics systems to make sure that there is standardisation in all products through out the nation.

What guidelines do you follow in terms of quality control at your outlets?

We as a franchisee have strict policies on following guidelines laid down by the franchisor on the shelf life of all products, having the advantage of a kitchen at all our outlets; we make sure we deliver fresh at any given point in time.

How is training and support important? What kind of training and support your franchisor offers you?

Training is an integral part in all cases; the customers should have the same experience across all outlets of the brand which is ensured only by timely training of new as well as existing employees on product and service. Our franchisor is quite proactive in this case and makes sure we work as a part of their organisation instead of a franchisee.

Best thing about your franchise brand and the franchisor. Where do you see yourself five years down the line?

The best thing about the franchisor is the tremendous support provided in establishing as a new territory. We hope to spread wings to other cities of Punjab after being successful in Chandigarh and Ludhiana and also adding more brands to our portfolio down the line.
