Armed with a fresh and unique concept that has been winning hearts and taste buds alike, Mauricio Acevedo, Chief Executive Officer, BannaStrow’s, is all set to introduce his crêpe concept in India. In an exclusive chat with Tushi Deb, he talks about fresh crêpes off the griddles and the hot selling concept!
Please give us a feel of BannaStrow's crêpe concept.
BannaStrow's is a franchise concept that specialises on a variety of crêpes cooked in front of customers. Customers are able to order from one of our pre-designed menu items or customise their own order. We also offer a variety of smoothies and specialty coffees. In short, BannaStrow's is a three-in-one concept! We have over 50 different crêpes (between our sweet and savory crêpes) as well as the possibility of creating your own crêpe and mixing our ingredients. The options are endless. Our specially designed menu has varied options for breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner or desserts. We have it all for each member of a family.
How has been BannaStrow's growth ever since its inception?
BannaStrow's concept took its shape by 2002 end. The concept was a brainchild of a couple of entrepreneurs with more than 14 years of restaurant experience. We opened our first two locations in 2003 and spent the next seven years in proving the concept and ironing out all the kinks. Only after we were sure of our strong market hold, we planned to spread out via franchising.
Why do you think BannaStrow's will be a success in India?
There are several factors. Foremost, our location flexibility makes us the best and our unique concept of cooking in front of customers is much appreciated. We can be in kiosks, food trucks, in-line type settings as well as stand-alone stores. Wherever there are people, we can have a BannaStrow's at airports, college campuses, hospitals, office buildings etc. Besides, investment is less as compared to other food concepts. The operation is simple to handle and our menu can be adapted to the local palette easily.
How do you think entrepreneurs would be benefitted?
Entrepreneurs can rely on us, as we will give them a way to be in the business. Their journey won't be a lone one.
Tell us about your expansion plans.
Right now, we are located in Florida (USA)- Doral, Miami, West Palm Beach and near Orlando. We are expanding globally starting from the UK and Colombia. We hope to enter into the Indian market soon.
Please throw some light on your franchisees in India.
Presently, we are looking for a master franchisee that will help in the growth of our concept in India. We are looking out for passionate people, who have experience and capital to make BannaStrow's a success in India.
Do you plan to customise the menu for multicultural Indian platter?
Yes we do. Our crêpes can be easily molded. We see this as an opportunity of merging fresh new flavours with the rich Indian cuisine.
