Re-STORE is the country's first retail chain to bridge the gap between the unorganised mobile, laptop repair vendors and the authorised repair centres. In a tete a tete with Beny Sachdeva, Soumitra Gupta, CEO, AFORESERVE.Com Ltd, shares his company's expansion plans and the franchisee business module.

What led to the inception of Re-STORE?

A few years back I had a problem with my high-end phone and could not find an organised and reliable store for its repair. This inspired me to open a chain of reliable repair centres for mobile phones as it has a huge untapped potential.

What inspired you to expand your business through franchising?

We have been in the business of service centre for chip-level repair for over a decade. We have the expertise and the infrastructure to expand but, we thing that local knowledge is essential to expand nationally. The business opportunity being extremely lucrative and promising holds a lot of potential for franchisees. Franchising obviously was the best option.

What business opportunity do you intend to provide to your franchisee?

This is a high return business in particular from second year onwards. It is primarily a service based business and has minimal dependence on products. Being a service based business, it is recession proof and offers high returns. This is a relatively low investment opportunity. The company provides complete technical support as well as support to source skilled manpower for the store and their training needs. It also provides initial marketing support to promote the store through its time-tested marketing strategy.

Is your business opportunity exclusively based on repairing?

Apart from repairing of mobile and laptops of any brand / any model that gives significant service revenue, all our franchisees get the advantage to serve our discerning customers with added Re-STORE accessories for mobile and laptops and airtime re-charge. We are national distributors for companies like Airtel, Aircel, Idea, Virgin Mobile, TATA, Reliance and BSNL for getting e-recharge / new connections.

How many outlets do you have and how many are you planning to open in this financial year?

We have signed off 112 franchisees, out of which 72 stores across the country are fully operational. We target to open 150 exclusive stores by the end of this financial year through franchising route.

What kind of training do you provide to your franchisee & their staff?

We take full charge of providing training and re-training apart from having online support system through web. We have our own training centre with an advanced training support system.

What are your requisites to open a franchised outlet?

The store must have a minimum of 200 sq. ft carpet area in a prominent market location. This business would require an investment of Rs 6-7 lakh.

As you are into a niche business concept, how do you maintain standardisation of operations at your outlets?

We are an accredited company as per ISO 9001:2008 requirement. We have standard operating procedure and the same is implemented for every operation of the store.

Which brand in mobiles and laptops do you repair the most?

Re-STORE as a concept is providing service for all 'out of warranty' mobile and laptop repairing, irrespective of any brands. We specialise in providing quality service for all such products in the country.
