The Franchising World (TFW): What kind of products and services are provided by Suvidhaa and who are its target consumers?

Paresh Rajde (PR): Suvidhaa is India`s first organised services distribution company which acts as a single point stop for the Indian consumer. Suvidhaa`s retail outlets are springing up in all localities and we intend to have one outlet serving every 2,500 households. Suvidhaa has developed strong relationships with various top Indian corporates to deliver these services to consumers across India. Consumers can obtain services provided by leading companies including IRCTC for railway ticketing, all major airline companies such as Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Air India, SpiceJet, Go Air and Indigo, telecom services such as Vodafone, Airtel, BSNL, Reliance, Idea, Tata and MTNL, more than 350 bus operators covering 5,000+ routes, multiplexes such as Ad Labs and Fun Cinema, leading financial services and insurance players such as LIC, ICICI Prudential, Reliance MF, UTI MF, Reliance Money, Kotak MF, LIC MF, SBI MF. Suvidhaa also supports bill payment for utility companies in areas such as electricity, gas, telephones and mobile. Other services include education, filing of tax returns, e-pooja services, credit card services, etc. Suvidhaa will continue to launch a number of innovative services on a monthly basis. Any person above the age of 16 and earning Rs10, 000+ pm, falls into our target customer`s definitions across all SEC class.

TFW: What kind of software or technology is used by Suvidhaa for providing different services to the customers?

PR: Suvidhaa`s S-Commerce platform is powered by its own robust technology set up. The in-house service integrated systems with real-time transactions across multi service providers, have been tested for up to 1 million transactions per day. The system, replete with inbuilt scalability and an NPF (No Point Failure) support – is capable of servicing 40,000 outlets at a time. We plan to scale it up as we go along. Our systems are designed to serve every Indian on a real time basis. The company also plans to provide robust support to all franchisees.

TFW: What kind of backup plan do you have to retain customers in case any flaw develops in the system?

PR: Firstly, our systems are geared for most of the redundancies and unexpected flaws. We are also in the process of setting up the DRS (Disaster recovery system). This should be in place soon. Also, we have the database of the consumers with whom we can directly interact in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

TFW: How do you plan to use the funding received from the two leading global venture capital firms, Reliance Technology Ventures and NVP India?

PR: Suvidhaa Infoserve Pvt. Ltd (SIPL), the pioneer of the Services Commerce (“S-Commerce”) revolution in India will use the new capital to aggressively expand its portfolio of service offerings, and enhance business development and marketing efforts.

Suvidhaa currently powers more than 4,000 local neighbourhood convenience stores with its S-commerce technology and plans to further expand to 20,000 franchisee outlets across the country by 2009. The new funding will see us grow faster, reaching a 10,000 mark soon.
