Rajkot is the second destination in Gujarat after Ahmedabad for Big Bazaar. It launched its brands as the availability of property was as per the expectation and choices of the company. The company will be targeting its presence aggressively in cities having a population of 5 lakh and above.
Their basic aim is to reach out to the customers in every corner of the country. This is the 29th Big Bazaar and is spread in an area of over 35,000 sq.ft. Big Bazaar offers a wide range of 1.6 lakh products which would be made available at prices lower than the MRP.
With such outlets, Big Bazaar aims to increase employment opportunities, as almost 90 to 95 per cent of the staff employed at Big Bazaar is from the local domain.
For Pantaloon, this is the 21st outlet in the country and fourth in the state. Pantaloon products are 15 to 20 per cent economical as compared to other brands offered in the market. With the in-house expertise to cope with the demands of fast-moving fashion requirements and also providing aesthetics for the products tagged under the brand, Pantaloon has entered the city with an objective to cater to the requirements of all age-groups.
Pantaloon and subsidiary in JV with Lee Cooper
Leading retailer Pantaloon Industries Ltd, and its subsidiary Indus-League Clothing will form a 50:50 joint venture (JV) company with Lee Cooper International Ltd. The JV will distribute and retail Lee Cooper's brands in India, which will include marketing and promoting the 'Famous Basics' brand of eyewear and footwear, from January 1, 2007.
