The UNDISPUTED LEADER in pre-school education

300 centres in 125 cities with an average enrollment of 60+ in the first year of operation; aiming at 500 centres with an average enrollment of 100+ by 2005 end

EDUCATION has become the most competitive of all the fields today. Its importance and role in building a strong foundation for the growth of students can never be underestimated. Hence, the need to provide that education right from the beginning is imperative. This underlying philosophy formed the genesis of Kidzee, the grand enterprise of Zee Interactive Learning Systems Limited (ZILS). It is a learning place that assures the best of pre-school education to the children, which is the most important concern of parents in today's competitive times.

ZILS, the multidivisional education enterprise formed in 1999 ventured into pre-primary education segment under the brand name Kidzee during late 2003-04. ZILS is an ISO-9001 certified education, providing company and an undisputed leader in the segment with over 300 centres across the country and overseas.

There is clearly an increased awareness about early childhood education and ZILS perceives it to be a very big opportunity. Early childhood learning is viewed as a stepping-stone to gain admission to senior schools and also fulfill higher educational aspirations, making families allocate more resources for education. Growing peer pressure and influence of the west has fuelled growth in this segment. Kidzee adopts a curriculum that leads to the overall development of the child.

The curriculum is based on satisfaction of the child's inquisitive mind through concept clarity and preparing the child to handle day-to-day situations without any stress thus providing children with a strong foundation for success in life. The personalised tender care that Kidzee offers stimulates the nascent mind to explore, understand, learn and appreciate the finer aspects of life.

Facilities like trained teachers, attendants, counsellors, personal attention, hygiene and security are part and parcel of every Kidzee centre. The focus at Kidzee is on teacher's training and the overall development of the child and thus there is a strong qualified team of 16 academic coordinators who bring with them a vast experience in early childhood education and human development. This team of academic coordinators is well-supported by a team of consultants who are amongst the best known names in the field of pre- primary education, human development and child psychology across the country.

Kidzee's teaching methodology shares valuable insights with the parents on the child's psychology and seeks their feedback on ways to improve methods of instruction for the child. Fees vary from Rs 10,000 to Rs 35,000 per annum, depending on the location of a centre. Lot of attention is given to ensure that each Kidzee centre holds a “PTM”, (Parent Teacher Meeting) every month in which Kidzee representatives participate periodically to directly connect to the ultimate customer. Special sessions are organised to train the parents in child handling.

Franchising its way to success

It was held that the existing playgroups were peripheral players of what was potentially Rs 5,000 crore-business opportunity, which could be tapped if one were to concentrate on developing the right product with an appropriate business model. This when taken in the context of ZILS's traditional expertise in education paved the way for the establishment of Kidzee,” reveals Mr Arun Kumar Khetan, CEO, Zee Interactive Learning Systems Limited (ZILS).
