EV rental startup Zypp Electric has successfully deployed 500 electric scooters worth ₹2.5 crore under its newly launched Franchise Owned Company Operated (FOCO) model, offering a new investment opportunity in India's booming green mobility sector. Launched in July 2025, the model allows individuals, high-net-worth investors, family offices, and institutions to earn assured returns of 59% to 100% over three years.
With a starting investment of ₹4.5 lakh for 10 scooters, participants can scale up to fleets of 100+ EVs. Each scooter is deployed with top enterprise clients including Zomato, Zepto, Swiggy, Amazon, Rapido, Blinkit, BBNow, and others—ensuring high utilization and stable revenue streams.
What makes the FOCO model appealing is its fully passive investment structure. Investors retain ownership of the EV assets, which are registered in their name, while Zypp manages everything from insurance and rider allocation to IoT-enabled tracking and day-to-day operations. Monthly payouts are guaranteed over a 36-month period, backed by long-term contracts and Zypp’s proprietary tech platform.
Akash Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of Zypp Electric, said, “We’ve deployed over 20,000 EVs to date and are now targeting 200,000 in the next three years. Our franchise model offers more than financial returns—it offers a stake in India’s clean mobility revolution. Every scooter helps eliminate a petrol-powered vehicle, reducing emissions and creating impact.”
Backed by over ₹400 crore in funding from global investors like ENEOS (Japan), Gogoro (Taiwan), and Indian funds including IAN Fund and Venture Catalysts, Zypp Electric has positioned itself as the country’s largest tech-enabled EV rental platform.
The company plans to scale its FOCO model across new markets including Jaipur, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Surat, Chennai, and Kolkata, boosting urban EV penetration and gig economy participation.
Zypp has already empowered over 2 lakh gig workers through its ecosystem, with average monthly earnings of ₹30,000–₹35,000, and top performers earning up to ₹1 lakh. The FOCO model further enhances this ecosystem by bringing in asset-backed investors aligned with India’s sustainability goals.
With demand for electric last-mile delivery and ride-sharing continuing to soar, Zypp’s franchise model is shaping up to be a benchmark for EV investments in India—offering secure returns, operational ease, and a measurable environmental footprint.
