JBM Electric Vehicles and Al Habtoor Motors have announced a strategic partnership to bring JBM’s electric buses to the UAE market. Under the agreement, Al Habtoor Motors will serve as the exclusive importer and distributor of JBM electric buses across the country.

The collaboration is aligned with the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative, aiming to cut emissions, lower operating costs, and modernize public transport infrastructure.

A subsidiary of JBM Auto Ltd., India, JBM Electric Vehicles operates one of the world’s largest integrated electric bus manufacturing facilities, with an annual capacity of 20,000 buses. So far, JBM’s e-buses have clocked over 200 million kilometers, served more than 1 billion passengers, and saved approximately 350 million liters of diesel along with 1 billion kilograms of CO2 emissions. The company has set a target of reaching 3 billion kilometers globally in the next three years.

Commenting on the partnership, Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Auto, said: “The UAE is a strategic market for us, and we aim to bring our EV ecosystem expertise here to support the government’s vision of sustainable transportation.” He projected that over the next 10 years, the partnership will help reduce 2.8 billion kilograms of CO2 emissions, save 1 billion liters of diesel, and serve 1.6 billion passengers.

Al Habtoor Motors will introduce JBM electric buses across multiple segments, including urban city transport, staff shuttles, school buses, airport tarmac vehicles, and intercity tourist coaches.

The buses are equipped with lithium-ion battery systems, advanced safety features, and smart charging technology, designed to meet UAE’s national standards and withstand the region’s climatic conditions.

Ahmed Al Habtoor, CEO of Al Habtoor Motors, said: “This partnership is a milestone in our green mobility journey. Together, we aim to be among the top two e-mobility leaders transforming the clean public transport landscape in the region.”

The partnership will also deliver turnkey solutions including electric buses, charging infrastructure, and leasing services. JBM Group is a $3.3 billion global conglomerate active in more than 37 countries, spanning sectors such as renewable energy and automotive systems. Meanwhile, Al Habtoor Group distributes leading vehicle brands in the UAE, including Mitsubishi Motors, FUSO, Bentley, and Bugatti.
