Global hospitality leader Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open a new Ramada by Wyndham hotel in Darbhanga, Bihar, marking a significant step in its continued expansion across India’s high-growth tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
Slated to open in September 2027, the 80-room property is being developed by Vijay Prakash, Partner at Shilit Hospitality LLP. The upcoming hotel will be strategically situated off NH 27, part of India’s vital East-West Corridor, providing seamless connectivity to Darbhanga Airport (9 km) and AIIMS Hospital (6 km).
The new Ramada by Wyndham Darbhanga will cater to both business and leisure travelers with a suite of modern amenities, including an all-day dining restaurant, meeting spaces, a fitness center, swimming pool, and expansive banqueting facilities.
“Darbhanga is rapidly emerging as a key commercial and medical hub in North Bihar,” said Rahool Macarius, Market Managing Director – Eurasia, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “We are excited to introduce a globally trusted brand in this dynamic market and continue our strategy of growth in India’s emerging cities.”
Dimitris Manikis, President – EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, highlighted the city’s growing hospitality demand: “Darbhanga reflects the strong need for quality, branded accommodations in India’s evolving regional centers. We’re pleased to partner with Shilit Hospitality to bring the Ramada experience here.”
Developer Vijay Prakash expressed confidence in the project’s potential: “Partnering with Wyndham allows us to deliver international standards in hospitality to Darbhanga. The city’s development, improving connectivity, and increasing footfall make this an ideal time for such an investment.”
The move aligns with Wyndham’s broader strategy of targeting underserved markets with high tourism, business, and healthcare-related travel demand. The company currently operates over 90 hotels in the Eurasia region, with around 50 more in the pipeline.
As the “Gateway to Bengal” and Bihar’s fifth-largest city, Darbhanga is expected to benefit significantly from enhanced hospitality infrastructure, with the new Ramada hotel poised to play a key role in supporting the region’s tourism and economic growth.
