Hero MotoCorp electric vehicle division VIDA has announced that it will launch the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription model for its VX2 electric scooter starting July 1, 2025. This model will allow customers to finance the scooter chassis and battery separately, significantly reducing the upfront cost and making EV ownership more accessible.
Under the BaaS model, customers can purchase the scooter chassis while subscribing to the battery through flexible monthly payment plans. This model is particularly beneficial for buyers who may not be able to afford the high initial battery cost and prefer manageable monthly payments instead. By separating the battery cost, VIDA aims to make electric vehicles available to a larger consumer base.
VIDA’s subscription model will also offer customers access to the company’s extensive network of over 3,600 fast-charging stations and more than 500 service points across 100 cities in India. Customers will be able to choose from various subscription plans tailored to their daily or monthly usage needs, providing maximum flexibility.
The company stated that this initiative is a crucial step towards democratizing electric mobility and removing traditional ownership barriers. Through the VIDA brand, Hero MotoCorp is committed to building a more inclusive electric vehicle ecosystem. Complete details regarding subscription plans, pricing, and rollout will be announced on July 1, 2025.
