Auto components major Uno Minda has announced an investment of approximately Rs 210 crore to establish a new manufacturing facility for its casting division in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The move aims to cater to the growing demand for casting parts in the electric vehicle (EV) segment, which is rapidly expanding as more original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) shift towards sustainable mobility solutions.
The company's board of directors approved the detailed project report for the upcoming facility during a meeting held on June 19, 2025. Uno Minda stated that the plant will specifically focus on serving the increasing requirements of EV manufacturers, supporting the evolving automotive ecosystem with advanced casting components.
Uno Minda further mentioned that the total capital expenditure of Rs 210 crore will be deployed in a phased manner. The investment will be funded through a combination of internal accruals and term loans, ensuring a balanced approach to financial planning while scaling up operations to meet market demand.
The company plans to gradually enhance the plant's production capacity to 3,629 metric tonnes per annum over the next five years. The first phase of production is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of the financial year 2026-27, positioning Uno Minda as a key supplier in the electric vehicle casting space.
