Unlike conventional ice cream outlets, Polar Bear has positioned its parlours as dine-in destinations centred around indulgent dessert experiences.

Polar Bear has strengthened its national footprint with the opening of its 200th outlet in India, while simultaneously marking another significant milestone in its home market with the launch of its 100th parlour in Bengaluru.

The Bengaluru milestone holds particular significance for the homegrown ice cream and dessert brand, which has identified the city as its largest market since its inception. The company’s journey began in 2008, when entrepreneur Kishore Rai opened its first outlet near Bengaluru’s ITPL.

Nearly two decades on, Polar Bear has grown into a fully Indian-owned and self-funded business with a presence across more than 35 cities in the country. Its expansion has been driven largely through a franchise-led model, supported by its focus on experience-oriented dessert retail.

Unlike conventional ice cream outlets, Polar Bear has positioned its parlours as dine-in destinations centred around indulgent dessert experiences. Its menu includes ice cream sundaes, shakes, sorbets and ice cream cakes, with the brand focusing on creating an engaging experience around desserts rather than simply selling ice cream.

The dual milestones underline the brand’s continued expansion across India and the strength of its franchise network, with Bengaluru remaining a key market in its growth journey.

Commenting on the milestone, Kishore Rai, Founder, Polar Bear, said the brand was founded with the vision of creating memorable sundae experiences for consumers. He noted that the company saw considerable potential in the sundae segment at a time when the market was predominantly focused on conventional ice cream scoops.

Rai said Polar Bear concentrated on creating distinctive sundae recipes with carefully selected ingredients and quality dairy products. The aim was to provide consumers with an indulgent and engaging dessert experience that went beyond traditional ice cream offerings.

Prashant Prakash, Senior Vice President – Commercial & Operations, Polar Bear, said quality has remained a key pillar of the company’s growth. He added that the brand follows stringent quality standards across its outlets, covering every stage from ingredient sourcing and preparation to service.

Keeping pace with evolving consumer tastes, the brand continues to innovate its menu through new flavours, generous portions and distinctive combinations. Polar Bear is also focused on expanding sustainably, with plans to deepen its presence in existing markets while maintaining consistent quality and delivering a strong customer experience across its growing network of 200 outlets.
